Back in the year 2000, I wrote and recorded a song called "Mysterious Ways". I thought that would be that, but since then -- for some mysterious reason, unknown to me -- I've written Parts Two , Three, Four, Five and Six of what I like to call The Mysterious Ways Saga. Part Five features a graveyard, a ghost, card playing, St. Francis, and an owl; in other words, just about everything you'd look for in a song. - Steve H. |
1) I was whistlin' past the graveyard / a catchy little tune
One night in early summer / the 28th of June
When the ghost of my father / came strollin' up to me
Put his hand on my shoulder / and said, "Long time, no see"
He said, "It's been twenty years now / but it feels like twenty days"
Oh, the Lord works / in mysterious ways
"Mysterious Ways, Part Five" appears on the Steve Haggard album Haint Blue. Available on Wild Oats Records (OAT-718) |
