THOUSAND MILES AWAY
Lyrics & music by Steve Haggard, published by Golden Harp Music, BMI. All Rights Reserved.

Like most songwriters, I often get asked whether I write the lyrics or the music first. The truth is that it varies from song to song. In the case of "Thousand Miles Away", I found myself humming a melody, then wrote lyrics to it a few months later. - Steve H.

chorus: She's a thousand miles away / and I can't take it
Seems like forever / since she went away
Got a chill down in my soul / and I can't shake it
Can’t live without her love / another day

1. Well, all my friends keep tellin' me / that I'm lucky
'Cause I go out / with a different girl each night
Well, I should be havin' fun / but there's really only one
Whose arms I want to feel / around me tight

chorus: But she's a thousand miles away / and oh, I miss her
Seems like forever / since she went away
And I'd walk those thousand miles / just to kiss her
Can’t live without her love / another day

2. Well, in this life / true love don't come easy
And after all we've cried / we ought to know
But like the saying goes / you'll never find a rose
That doesn't have / a thorn or two also

chorus: Oh, she's a thousand miles away / and I can't take it
Seems like forever / since she went away
Got a chill down in my soul / and I can't shake it
Can’t live without her love / another day
Oh, but she's a thousand miles away.
