I had kind
of a weird experience writing this song. For several days in a row, I found
myself singing the first line of the chorus. It was as if I was singing
a song that I'd heard a million times. And every time I started singing
it to myself, I'd add more words... but it was almost like I was just remembering
more of the words each time. It sounded so familiar to me. When
I finished the song, I played it for a dozen different people, asking each of them if they'd ever heard it before. I looked in various databases, and even checked with both BMI and ASCAP. lt winds up that I actually did write the song, which is kind of a honky-tonk thang. -Steve H. |
1. All this wine seems to be workin'
/ 'cause I'm beginning to feel all right
And I've only had two bottles / so
far tonight
I don't wanna face the future / I'm
tryin' not to think about the past.
I'm forgettin' you bottle by bottle
/ and glass by glass
chorus: Bottle by bottle /
glass by glass
My memories of you / are fadin' fast
I'm gonna pour
myself a little more wine / and hope this feelin' lasts
I'm forgettin' you bottle by bottle
/ and glass by glass
2. It's a simple
little equation / like one and one is two
The more I
drink / the less I find I'm missin' you
And I can only
see one little problem / with drinkin' away my sorrow
You know, I'm
gonna have to start / all over again tomorrow
repeat chorus.
