To tell
you the truth, I don't really remember writing "Can't Get Over". I do remember
that
I started playing it live almost immediately... actually, before I'd really learned it, as I had to tape the lyrics onto my guitar. Because of the melody, and the fact that it's a slow song, people sometimes think it's a sad song. But if you listen to the lyrics -- or in this case, read 'em below -- you'll find that it's a post-sadness song, and has a happy ending. -Steve H. |
1. When you left / I swore my broken
heart / would never mend
Yeah, I was sure / the misery / would
never end
But it's amazing / what a little
time will do
Oh, I can't get over / gettin' over
you
chorus: No, I can't get over
/ gettin' over you
It's the one thing / I never thought
I could do
But now my tears are dry / and only
the sky / is blue
Oh, I can't get over / gettin' over
you
2. Once you'd gone / I spent so many
long and lonely nights
And there were times / I thought
I'd never see the light
But now it's mornin' / and the sun
is shinin' through
Oh, I can't get over / gettin' over
you
chorus: No, I can't get over
/ gettin' over you
It's the one thing / I never thought
I could do
But now my tears are dry / and only
the sky / is blue
Oh, I can't get over / gettin' over
you
No, I can't get over / gettin' over
you.
"Can't Get
Over" appears on the Steve Haggard CD,
