"Cheatham County
Blues" is a straight, three-chord, 12-bar blues. I live in Cheatham County,
just outside of Nashville, right near the banks of the "mighty" Harpeth
River.
Interestingly, I wrote this song before the events described in it took place. Steve H. |
1. Ain’t much to do / here on the
edge of town
Ain’t much to do / out here on the
edge of town
Except watch the sun come up / and
the sun go down
2. Well, this old place / used to
feel like home
Yeah, this old place / used to be
a home
Now it’s just a house / since my
baby’s gone
3. Got my old dog / a guitar and some
wine
I got my old dog / a guitar and some
wine
So sooner or later / I’ll be feelin’
fine
4. Why she left / that don’t matter
now
Why she left / well, that don’t matter
now
But one of these days / I’ll get
her back somehow
5. Got Harpeth River mud / on my shoes
Got Harpeth River mud / all over
my shoes
I got a nasty case / of the Cheatham
County blues.
