"Empty Arms"
is one of those kinds of songs that caused me to love country music in
the
first place. It's got all those classic elements: a barroom, wine, teardrops, a simple swing- type feel, and some wordplay. I write songs in more than one musical genre, but it seems like every once in awhile, I just feel the need to write myself one of these. - Steve H. |
1. Sittin' here tonight / in a world
of neon lights
Wonderin' why nothin' / ever seems
to turn out right
A cold, cold rain is fallin' / in
my heart it's rainin', too
Oh, I wish my empty arms /
were full of you
chorus: The sky is full of
stars / my glass is full of wine
My eyes are filled with tears / since
you're no longer mine
All my days are empty / my nights
are empty, too
Oh, I wish my empty arms /
were full of you
2. Sometimes I pretend / that it's
way back when
And you still love me / and we're
together again
Well, I wish that I could turn back
/ the hands of time somehow
And I wish my empty arms / could
hold you now
chorus: The sky is full of
stars / my glass is full of wine
My eyes are filled with tears / since
you're no longer mine
All my days are empty / my nights
are empty, too
Oh, I wish my empty arms /
were full of you.
