The idea/fact
of life being a mystery is one that I've written about -- and thought about
--
quite a bit. The final song on my "Rough Edge" CD ended with the line "Life's a mystery, and I like it that way". I followed up on that theme, and wrote the song that kicked off my next album, "Make Your Move": Life's A Mystery. Of course, life has its downs as well as its ups, and I must admit that there are times when it'd be more accurate for me to say "Life's a mystery, and I accept it that way". It's kind of a zen thang, I guess. -Steve H. |
1. I was flyin' down the highway
/ doin' about a-hundred-and-three
Racin' like the devil himself / was
followin' me
One minute / I was thinkin' about
dyin'
Next minute / I was feelin' just
fine
Friends, I tell you / life is a mystery
chorus: Life's a mystery /
take it from me
What you get ain't always what you
see
It's a crazy game / but I wanna play
Life's a mystery / and I like it
that way
2. I was hangin' at the bar with my
friends / drinkin' red wine
Fallin' in love was the last thing
/ on my mind
Ah, but then / she caught my eye
It didn't take long / for the sparks
to fly
And you know / the rest is history
chorus: Life's a mystery /
take it from me
And it don't come with any guarantee
It's a crazy game / but I wanna play
Life's a mystery / and I like it
that way
3. Life is like a racecourse / full
of little twists and turns
And the more you know about it /
the more there is to learn
And when you hit / that hairpin curve
You'd better not / lose your nerve
You've got to hang on tight / life
is a mystery
4. I've been down at the bottom /
where I didn't have a dollar to spend
I've loved and lost / and lived to
love again
I wear my heart / right on my sleeve
'Cause I know / what I believe
And I believe / that life is a mystery
repeat chorus #1.
"Life's
A Mystery" appears on the Steve Haggard CD,
