Not long after
I moved to Nashville in 1989, a mutual friend introduced me to a songwriter
named Larry Shaw. While I'm not usually the co-writing type, we wound up writing some nice stuff together. (I've recorded three of our collaborations.) The idea for "Me Minus You" first came to me while I was driving around in my car, and I started writing it in my head. Maybe a week later, I brought it over to Larry's and we finished it up. I remember that we had an excellent time coming up with the mathematical references. - Steve H. |
1. We tried to solve our problems
/ but they seemed to multiply
Soon they divided us / and you told
me goodbye
Now I've finally figured out / what
it adds up to
Me minus you / equals the blues
chorus: You know I hate / this
kind of division
I've been half-crazy / since you
said we were through
And it don't take / a mathematician
To see : Me minus you / equals the
blues
2. I wish I had the answer / to why
we failed the test
And a hundred other questions / but
I can only guess
There's one thing I count on / always
being true
Me minus you / equals the blues
chorus: You know I hate / this
kind of division
I've been half-crazy / since you
said we were through
And it don't take / a mathematician
To see : Me minus you / equals the
blues
tag: Me
minus you / I wish our one and one / still made two
Me minus you / equals the blues.
