For whatever
reason, I tend to write sad or moody songs a little bit more often than
I write
happy, upbeat ones. "I Can Never Be Blue" is definitely happy and upbeat, though. It's got a kind of swingin' Texas dancehall feel, and it's a song that I always enjoy singing. -Steve H. |
chorus: I can never be blue
/ darlin', when I'm with you
I know that it may sound square /
but I swear / that it's true
Oh baby, it's a mystery / the way
you do the things you do
I only know that when I'm with you
/ I can never be blue
1. Sometimes this old world can drive
me / right out of my mind
But when I'm alone with you, baby
/ well, I leave it all behind
I forget about the roof leakin' /
checks bouncin'
I forget all about / the boss and
the landlord, too
I only know that when I'm with you
/ I can never be blue
chorus: I can never be blue
/ darlin', when I'm with you
I know that it may sound square /
but I swear / that it's true
Oh baby, it's a mystery / the way
you do the things you do
I only know that when I'm with you
/ I can never be blue
2. Sometimes when I begin to wonder
/ what life is all about
And the weight of the world on my
shoulders / is wearin' me out
Well, somehow / you take me
And honey, you make me / feel brand
new
I only know that when I'm with you
/ I can never be blue
chorus: I can never be blue
/ darlin', when I'm with you
I know that it may sound square /
but I swear / that it's true
Oh baby, it's a mystery / the way
you do the things you do
I only know that when I'm with you
/ I can never be blue
