The title of
Rockin' Blues #11 came about for a very simple reason. I'd just written
it a few days before we recorded it, and it didn't have a title yet, so
I was referring to it in the studio as "that rockin' blues song". Then
at some point, I decided I wanted it to be the eleventh and final track
on the CD. To make a long story short, it never did get a
real title, and wound up being called Rockin' Blues #11. It's a train song that -- unlike most train songs -- was actually written on a train. (I happen to love riding on trains.) I was doing a European tour, and took an overnight train ride from Copenhagen to Amsterdam. Or maybe it was the other way around. Anyway, I'd been overseas for awhile, and it was a tiring tour, and I was thinkin' about gettin' back home. -Steve H. |
1. Ridin' on a night train / could
be headin' anywhere
Ridin' on a night train / could be
headin' anywhere
Well, it don't really matter / as
long as she is waitin' there
2. Well, you must have read my heart
/ to know what I was dreaming of
Yeah, you must have read my heart
/ to know what I'd been dreaming of
You were so hard to resist / you
made it easy for me to fall in love
3. Well, I've been from Amarillo /
all the way to Amsterdam
And I've been honky-tonkin' / from
Brussels back to Birmingham
You can call me a guitar-playin'
fool / 'cause that's exactly what I am
4. I can't worry about tomorrow /
I'm too busy livin' every day
No, I can't worry about tomorrow
/ I'm too busy livin' every day
You know, life's a mystery / and
I like it that way.
"Rockin'
Blues #11" appears on the Steve Haggard
CD, Rough Edge.
