Hiking to the top of Mount
Rushmore in the summer of
2006 was a once-in-a-lifetime
experience, and one that I
was extremely fortunate to
have. There's no real trail up
to the top... just some steep,
rocky terrain followed by a
long, ridiculously steep
iron staircase. The general public
isn't normally allowed on top
of the monument, but as we
were doing a gig at Mount Rushmore's
amphitheatre, we
got a special hike courtesy
of a couple of park rangers.
My pal Thomas Jefferson's profile
is at the left; next to
him is Abraham Lincoln. (I'm
the guy wearin' shades.)
