Interestingly, many European countries have western towns, which
look like Old West movie sets and are popular vacations spots. They
ban cars, and hire locals to act as cowboys and Indians. Guests can
get away from the modern world, ride around on horses, and get a
little taste of the American west, circa 1870. Generally, the towns
have country music, which is how I wound up at the pleasant place
above: Pullman City. We played for two nights in the town's music
hall, and stayed in the pink hotel behind me in the photo. My room
was the one with the balcony on the second floor.
