Steve Haggard is back with his first solo album in many years, Haint Blue. It contains eleven excellent tracks, ten of them being Steve's fine and distinctive originals.
Haint Blue is Steve Haggard's sixth solo album for the Nashville independent label Wild Oats Records, and serves as a showcase for his thoroughly original sound, which has been described as "Genuine American Roots Music". It's a
potent and eclectic blend of Americana: a little blues, some folk and country and rock, etc. Steve
is a man of many talents: a distinctive vocalist, a
great songwriter, and an excellent
musician. Steve plays guitar and harmonica -- he's a virtuouso blues harp player -- on the new album, sings lead and most of the harmonies, and is joined by a stellar lineup of musicians, including Walter Egan, John Heinrich, Andrew Hooker, Merna Lewis and Michael Meadows.
Steve produced the album, working with his longtime recording engineer Andrew Hooker at The Cave Studios
in Leiper's Fork, TN. (Over the decades, Steve Haggard
has produced dozens of recording
projects for artists and bands... not only from the USA, but from Sweden,
Canada, England, Norway, Finland and Germany.)
Steve Haggard is not a household name, but while he has mostly flown under the radar here in the U.S., he has built a loyal fan base overseas, having done more than 50 tours internationally. Steve has performed in 19 countries, playing festivals, concerts and clubs throughout Europe, and as far as the Middle East. His music has
picked up radio play
in 20+ countries; his albums have been distributed on five
continents.
He is a dynamic, inspiring
stage performer, whether
in a festival, concert
or club setting; whether playing in
a little roadhouse right
here in Tennessee, or to a crowd
of thousands at an outdoor
festival in Europe, Steve and
his band always deliver
an evening of great music.
Now, Steve Haggard has emerged from semi-retirement with his best album yet, Haint Blue. If you haven't heard his music, we strongly urge you to do so.
Last, but certainly not
least, the always-busy Steve hosts a weekly radio
show in Nashville on WRFN... also known as Radio Free Nashville. The Haggard & Haggard Radio Hour airs every Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM (Central Time). You can listen at www.radiofreenashville.org or https://ice23.securenetsystems.net/WRFNLP
