There's good
news, ladies and gentlemen! Yes, our ownSteve Haggard has released his
first brand-new solo album in many, many years. It's called Haint Blue, and was officially
released on October 13th, 2023 -- Friday the Thirteenth! -- and contains ten of Steve's n
excellent originals, plus one well-chosen cover song. We think you'll like/love the album.
Haint Blue was produced by Steve Haggard, working with his longtime recording
engineer Andrew Hooker at The Cave Studios in Leiper's Fork, TN. Steve plays guitar
and harmonica (plus a bit of keyboards on two songs), and is joined on the album
by a group of first-rate musicians including Walter Egan, John Heinrich, and others.
Learn more about the Haint Blue album here, including song lyrics, musician credits,
and ways to purchase the CD and/or downloads.
Now that Steve's album has finally seen the light of day, he'll be going back to work
producing a new album for a longtime Wild Oats Records artist, the talented Canadian singer/songwriter Garry Jackson. Garry has had a number of excellent releases over
the years here at Oat Central, and the new project is shaping up to be a very good one.
It'll feature ten of Garry's originals, and should be ready for release in early 2024.
Andrew Hooker will be engineering, and among the fine musicians contributing
to the album already have been Walter Egan, Chris James and Merna Lewis.
Back
in Radioland, Steve Haggard
continues to host The Haggard & Haggard
Radio Hour,
which
has been broadcast weekly on WRFN (Radio
Free Nashville) here
in Nashville since
May
2008. You can listen locally on either 107.1 FM or 103.7 FM, or live via
streaming audio
(worldwide!) at www.radiofreenashville.org.
The show airs each and every Tuesday from
4:00
to 5:00 PM (Central Time), so tune in for an hour of what Steve
calls "an eclectic mess
of
music, information about the songs and artists, and a whole lot of meaningless banter".
As you may or may not know, The Tennessee Wobblers, released an excellent album on
the Wild Oats Records label back in 2020. But if it wasn't for bad luck, this trio, consisting of
Todd Elgin, Bryon Russell and Steve Haggard (fine singers, songwriters and musicians all),
wouldn't have no luck all. You see, a week after the release party for the album -- cleverly
titled The Tennessee Wobblers --the pandemic basically shut the music business down. As a
result, the album and the band have pretty much remained in limbo. We're hoping that by
early 2024, they'll be back in action, and the album will finally receive a full-scale release.
